In a video uploaded on May 22 to the YouTube channel by PDC, Lee Young-ae gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her preparations for the stage play Hedda Gabler.

Titled “Actress Lee Young-ae, These Days I Do Door-to-Door Sales(?) Instead of Acting,” the clip featured lighthearted moments and heartfelt reflections from the star.

Family Reactions to Her Theater Role

While in the dressing room, Lee spoke about her 15-year-old twins’ reactions to her new project.

“My daughter said she’s coming next week. I told her the ending is pretty heavy, but she said, ‘Mom, it’s the tragic stuff that makes it fun.'”

In contrast, her son was less enthusiastic. “I asked him if he wanted to come too, and he just said, ‘Do I have to?'” she said, laughing.

Even her husband had a quirky reason for skipping the show. “He says, ‘I already see your face at home. Why go watch it again?'” Lee added. “But really, he’s just too nervous I’ll mess up a line.”

Reflections on Motherhood and Everyday Life

Now juggling life as a mother and stage actress, Lee also shared insights into parenting teenagers. “The kids are busy with academies, so I just check in on their day, give them a hug, talk to my husband, and go to bed,” she said.

She emphasized the importance of space in parenting:

“Being present all the time doesn’t mean you’re educating them—it can become obsessive. It’s better to maintain a bit of distance. If the mom is happy, the children will be happy too.”

Known for her elegance, Lee surprised fans by describing her home life as anything but glamorous:

“I don’t insist on anything special. I don’t decorate the house much or make fancy meals. We just live as we are. I’m not the type to dress things up.”

As she continues to captivate audiences on stage, Lee Young-ae’s honest reflections show that even iconic stars face the same family dynamics, filled with humor, love, and a touch of teenage indifference.
